ICEdust is the inaugural exhibition of a new series of scanner-made photo works. The seven large-scale photographs in ICEdust stage found commercial scenes cleaned, corrupted and rerendered by maverick electronic dusting.

Video documentation

---

a man held is a five-channel digital video installation of experimental mobile phone films made in Lisbon and London in 2012. The installation is across two rooms: there are four large projections in the main room, three on a triangular screen and one on the wall; and a monitor work in the adjoining, smaller space. One film in each space has a direct sound track. The sound bleeds across both spaces and is heard, mostly, at a moment of correspondence, different in each track, which connects the films and the filmic spaces of the two rooms. The three films around the floor-to-ceiling triangular screen, that comprise the work Tower, show the near-same scene shot over a number of days.

The electronic document for a man held, with a commissioned text written/read by Roger Cook and further video documentation of the show, is available here.

This staging of the project involves a gallery installation of the project along the lines of the Venice and Leuven showings. For this occasion Chris Bond was invited to participate and his response, Vogue Hommes, September 1986, Mirror, 2014, a treatment of Another Misspent Portrait's... source magazine as a painted object, is an important and welcomed addition to the installation.

Each Thursday evening in January at the MCA at 6pm there will be presentations and events as part of the project's 'response' program.

These include an artist talk by Christian Capurro (8th); the opportunity for a 'dermal reading' of the erased and inscribed Vogue Hommes magazine when it can once again be held and touched (15th); Dr Karen de Perthuis presenting a talk entitled Erasing Fashion: Reflections on Fashion Photography and Christian Capurro's 'Another Misspent Portrait of Etienne de Silhouette' (22nd); and, in a late correction to the program, a second 'dermal reading', this time facilitated by Natsha Bullock, curator of Taking It All Away (29th).

Additionally, an intact, unerased copy of the Vogue Hommes #92, September 1986, magazine has been placed in the Schaeffer Fine Arts Library at the Power Institute, University of Sydney, with the call number 746.92 109.

For the duration of the show the Another Misspent Portrait's... editioned project poster will be available at the MCA store.
